Our Weekend Getaway in Bridlington, with the Coachman Travel Master 565

Hail, fellow travellers and motorhome enthusiasts! We’re Nick and Jill, and I suppose you’d describe us as a happily married couple ‘approaching our golden years’. The hair may be greyer but there’s no signs of slowing down for us, though. As well as spending time pottering about in the garden or babysitting the grandchildren, we like to get out and about in our motorhome.

We recently had our third trip in our new motorhome – a nice little weekend jaunt to Bridlington in our Coachman Travel Master 565. Bridlington is a seaside town on the north east coast that we’ve heard good things about, and we’re happy to have been asked to talk about it, and the motorhome, here in an article. By the way, it’s worth saying that while Nick’s traditionally a fan of German motorhomes it was time to go for something different. Boy, are we glad we did. We couldn’t be happier with our choice!

Friday Arrival: A Warm Welcome

Our journey to Bridlington, or Brid as we prefer to call it, began on a sunny Friday morning. With Nick at the wheel and me navigating (because he’s rubbish at it), we set off to the East Yorkshire coast, excited for a relaxing weekend by the sea. We’d booked in to a motorhome campsite in Flamborough, about four miles outside of Bridlington, so that we could also take advantage of the amazing views and the chance to observe marine life and nature.

The Coachman Travel Master 565 made an excellent first impression on us. It was a smooth ride and Nick said the comfortable driver’s seat made the journey feel shorter than it was. He’s always had an eye for quality (that’s why he married me), and he noted how the motorhome handled the roads with ease – a testament to solid build and design.

Once we’d arrived, setting up camp was a breeze, and we could start enjoying our weekend without fuss or delay. First things first – of course! – was a cuppa and something to eat. I found the Travel Master 565’s kitchen facilities more than adequate for rustling up a teatime meal for us both, with a decent Thetford oven and hob with electronic ignition. There’s also a microwave and plenty of storage. Everything’s nice and easy! I freshened up in the bathroom, which is actually split into two areas across the width of the motorhome – a toilet and sink on one side and a decent shower on the other. I never once felt all weekend that, in bathroom terms, we didn’t have the level of convenience and comfort we’d have in a hotel. Certainly, more than we’ve experienced in other motorhomes. These bathroom bits are right next to the rear bedroom area, so it’s all really convenient.

Our campsite neighbours were a nice couple, and we made chatty friends quickly, so they popped in for a brew – and it’s worth saying that they were quick to admire our Coachman. They were especially impressed by the sleek look and the design, and the spaciousness it offers.

Nick and I took the opportunity to have a relaxing night reading and ‘chilling out’ (as our daughter calls it), just unwinding in our motorhome and enjoying being away from ‘home’ and in this lovely space. The next day we’d go into Bridlington to see what all the fuss is about!

Saturday Explorations: Comfort and Convenience

Saturday morning couldn’t have started better – we were up early, and the day greeted us with brilliant sunshine and spectacular view of Flamborough. We brewed our morning coffee, starting our daily routine as easily as we do back at home. The Travel Master’s large dinette is really comfortable and was the perfect spot for us to sit and plan our day over a light breakfast (toast for me, bran for Nick, if you were wondering!).

We decided we’d go into Brid and spend a few hours walking on its beautiful South Beach that we’d heard a lot about. It’s a great spot, apparently a bit more laid back than North Beach, which is more your typical seaside spot. We love beaches and we also love having a mooch round the shops! The Promenades is a shopping centre with everything you’d expect to find, but the town also offers a nice array of boutiques and independents, if bigger chain stores are not your thing. Bridlington’s actually a quaint little town, a mix of modern and traditional, and there’s enough to see and do here to keep you occupied and interested.

Returning to the Coachman for lunch, once again I really appreciated the convenience of having that kitchen at my disposal. The fridge kept our ingredients fresh, and the oven was perfect for heating up the pie we’d bought from the local bakery on West Street, not too far from Bridlington Spa. Nick loves his pie!

In the afternoon, we fancied another dose of taking it easy, so we relaxed under the motorhome’s awning and enjoyed the fresh sea breeze. Worth pointing out that the ample storage in the Coachman meant we could bring our comfy chairs and a small table – totally making the most of our outdoor moments. That evening we played cards and, really, just enjoyed the ambience of being on a motorhome break in Brid.

Sunday Comfort: A Home Away from Home

The luxurious rear bedroom in the Travel Master 565 feels more like a high-end hotel than a motorhome, thanks to the comfortable mattresses and premium bedding. It’s a twin single room, which is perfect for those no-compromise nights of stretching about! It’s worth pointing out that the 565 offers an electric drop down bed up the front, which we used when we took the grandchildren away for a weekend, but we prefer the twin singles where we’re away on our own. After a peaceful sleep (other than Nick’s snoring, of course) we woke up feeling pretty refreshed.

Nick likes to think he’s au fait with things, so during the weekend he spent some time tinkering with the motorhome’s tech features. The solar panels and energy-efficient LED lighting particularly impressed him. As someone who values sustainability, this was a huge plus, as he’s quite aware of the planet and we do try to do our bit back at home – recycling and reusing and all that. The power generated allowed us to use our gadgets without worrying about running out of power, so I could charge my mobile up and do a Face Time with our daughter and show her the lovely beach!

Yo-yoing between Flamborough and Bridlington was great, and the Travel Master 565 was up to the task of providing us with a really nice home from home while we were away. Yes, after three short trips Nick and I are absolutely convinced.

Why the Coachman Travel Master Imperial Is Perfect for Us

The Coachman Travel Master Imperial truly exceeded our expectations during our weekend in Brid. The blend of luxury, convenience and eco-friendly features fits our lifestyle perfectly. It feels like a really solid and special motorhome – and despite Nick’s long-standing preference for German, he did admit this Coachman model has won him over. As well as the sustainability tech, he particularly appreciated the quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design, and I must say I agree. This motorhome looks and feels wonderful. It really suits us, and we particularly loved our little jaunt to Brid!

For any of our fellow travellers who are looking for a comfortable and easy way to explore, we could not recommend the Coachman Travel Master 565 more highly. It’s superb. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer adventure, this motorhome has everything you need to make the whole trip enjoyable and hassle-free.

Our weekend in Bridlington was a delightful escape from our everyday lives, and I am so pleased it was made all the better by our Coachman Travel Master 565. Now that we’ve made the investment Nick, and I are both so happy to say “here’s to many more adventures in comfort and style!”
