How a Glastonbury Campervan Upgrades Your Festival Experience

Published: 7th April 2025 Last updated 25 days ago
Camping Festival

Lugging a tent to Glastonbury is a tried and tested method to experience the biggest music festival in the UK, but it also restricts you from truly enjoying the event from dawn till dusk. This is where a Glastonbury campervan comes into play, providing you with a private kitchen, bathroom and bedroom to keep you constantly fresh.

From exemplary brand new campervans to second-hand vehicles, at Spinney, we provide everything you could possibly need to revolutionise how you experience Glastonbury festival. We stock only the very best brands, including campervans from Swift, Elddis vehicles, cutting-edge Bailey campervans, 2025 Adria models and the latest releases from Auto-Trail. Or, if you fancy something new to Spinney in 2025, why not explore our Xplore campervans?

Once you’ve got your vehicle sorted, you’ll probably want to get some essential campervan accessories, such as awnings, which will make your pitch the talk of the festival.

Breaking down exactly why campervans are such a winner at Glastonbury and everything you need to know about setting up your pitch, explore our blog below.

10 reasons why a Glastonbury campervan will upgrade your experience

Campervans are permitted inside Glastonbury festival and are an excellent way to enjoy the festival, upgrading your experience in the following ten ways.

1. Private bathroom

Glastonbury toilets are famous for all the wrong reasons, but campervans provide you with your own private washroom where you can shower and use the toilet in peace. Glastonbury even offers waste disposal points in the campervan fields, making using and emptying your toilet as easy as possible.

2. Eat great food

Every single one of our outstanding campervans, including the Xplore CV range, comes fitted with a plush kitchen that will easily allow you to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. Glastonbury features endless food stalls, but it can take ages to decide what you want, so by making a meal plan ahead of time and getting in the ingredients, you can streamline your experience.

3. Enjoy premium drinks

Bars at Glastonbury are expensive and have endless queues, so why not transform your campervan into your own plush drinks cabinet? Use the fridge to keep your drinks cool and get easy access to ice in your freezer so that you can make gorgeous beverages to match the occasion.

4. Get some well-deserved rest

Glastonbury is massive and tiring to traverse, so when it comes to the evening (or the middle of the day for that matter), campervans provide you with a cosy space to bed down. Ditch a thin camping mat and opt for luxury, with the Elddis Autoquest Camper even offering a fabulous double bed.

5. Save money

The aforementioned food and drink at Glastonbury can cost a lot of money, especially if you’re eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Using your campervan facilities will allow you to save precious pennies.

6. Shelter from the storm

Glastonbury weather is infamously volatile, going from scorching heat to mud-churning rain in a matter of minutes. No matter if it’s windy, wet or boiling, your sturdy campervan will easily shelter you from the weather and even provide a space where you can shower or plug in a life-saving travel fan.

7. Avoid lugging heavy loads

Even Glastonbury loyalists will admit that lugging their tent, food, drink, clothes and more into the festival on the first day is the lowlight of the weekend. Campervans make this process a complete ease, with heavy lifting only being required when taking luggage from your front door to the vehicle.

8. Easy to arrive and leave

Once you’ve got your campervan loaded at home, you can avoid the train station rush or the cram in the back of a car by heading straight to the festival uninterrupted. Likewise, it’s just as easy to leave, although we would recommend escaping early to avoid the rush!

9. Charge your devices

Losing a party member at Glastonbury is unfortunately far too simple, especially when you’ve got no phone battery. But when sleeping in a campervan, you can charge all your devices overnight, so you’re ready to head off the next morning! If this is a priority, you’ll want to consider Swift’s Carrera range, which has USB sockets built into the armrests of the chairs!

10. Take as much as you want

When you enter the festival on foot, you’re limited to how much your arms can carry. Driving in with a campervan allows you to take just about as much as you want, including food, drink, pillows, duvets and elaborate costumes.

Taking your campervan to Glastonbury

Taking your campervan into Glastonbury is just as easy as arriving by coach, car or train. The most important thing to remember is that you will, of course, need a full festival ticket for admittance, but you will also need a separate campervan ticket that will allow you to pitch in your designated field. These campervan tickets usually become available at the same time as the general sale tickets. Everyone staying in your campervan must have a valid festival ticket, but only one person needs the campervan ticket.

What campervan pitches are available at Glastonbury?

Four different types of campervan tickets are available at Glastonbury, corresponding to four separate pitch locations. Different pitches accommodate different kinds of vehicles and festival-goers, so it’s crucial that you book the correct one. The differences between the pitches are as follows:

  1. Blue Route – Quiet Campervan Field: Ideal for families or small groups looking for a quieter time at Glastonbury, this 8m x 7m pitch facilitates campervans that have a maximum length of 8 metres. We’d recommend the plush Endeavour range from Bailey, which includes a double bed.
  2. Blue Route – General Campervans: If you’re more keen to soak in the atmosphere of the festival, consider a ‘General Campervans’ 8m x 7m pitch that also accommodates campervans with a maximum length of 8 metres – like the spacious four-berth Adventure range from Auto-Trail.
  3. White Route – Normal Campervan Pitches: Different from the previous two options, ‘White Route’ pitches are located outside of the festival at the Bath & West Showground. A 24-hour shuttle bus can take you to and from the festival if you want to stay at this 8m x 7m pitch that accommodates campervans 8 metres in length.
  4. White Route – Large Campervan Pitches: Located at the Bath & West Showground, this pitch, like the previous, offers a 24-hour shuttle service. The difference is that it accommodates a larger 16m x 7m pitch as well as vehicles over 8 metres in length. That means you can truly embrace luxury with one of our perfect new motorhomes.

Rules for campervan owners at Glastonbury

Being one of the largest music festivals in the world, it’s no wonder that Glastonbury has a fair few rules about bringing your campervan to the event. Many of these rules also apply to general festival-goers, but they’re all worth considering for your stay.

  • Party members who did not travel in the campervan are allowed to pitch one small tent behind their campervan.
  • No knives are allowed in the festival, so if you’re planning to cook in your campervan, make sure to prep well before the festival!
  • Also included on the prohibited list are such things as glass, glitter, disposable wipes, generators, candles and kites.
  • Pitches are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you want to pitch up next to your friends who are also driving their campervan, it’s wise to arrive together.
  • Awnings are permitted, but gazebos are not.

Essential information for campervan owners at Glastonbury

There are more than just a few things that you need to know about taking your campervan to Glastonbury, even before you start loading your vehicle. As we’ve already discussed, only campervans under 8m in length will be permitted, so it’s essential to either measure your campervan or consult your owner’s handbook for more information.

Since your campervan will likely be a good walk from the festival, depending on where your pitch is, it’s advised to pack a big bag of essentials before you head off, so you won’t be constantly coming and going. There are also no electrical hook-ups at the festival for your campervan. This means that if you intend to use a lot of power, you may want to take a couple of charged, spare batteries or a small power bank with you. You’ll also effortlessly blend into the environmentally conscious crowd at Glastonbury if you install beneficial solar panels on your vehicle.

Unfortunately, thieves are always a danger to ruining your weekend, even at one of the most free-spirited events on the globe! Be vigilant by putting all valuables inside your campervan before you leave and lock the vehicle securely. You could even use a wheel clamp and steering wheel lock to be extra secure, especially since it will be stationary for several days.

How to upgrade your campervan pitch at Glastonbury

One of the many great benefits of bringing your campervan to Glastonbury is that you can create a superior pitch that can become the social hub of your weekend. So, why not make the most of your advantageous position and upgrade your pitch with a number of home comforts and decorative features?

  • Make use of your awning: The very best awnings on the market will allow you to make your pitch feel extremely homely. Ideal for escaping the sun in scorching heat or sheltering from the rain in a downpour, awnings create a cosy space where you can get some much-needed relaxation.
  • Decorate: From flags to fairy lights and bunting to balloons, there are a hundred different ways to decorate your campervan pitch and make it a vibrant carnival of colour. Your easy access to electricity certainly gives you plenty more options for creativity!
  • Create the bed of your dreams: Bring as many pillows, duvets and blankets as you’d like to create a nighttime haven where you can sleep easy after a whole day of dancing. With various bed setups, the Adria Twin campervan is perfect for a plush slumber.
  • Prepare for any weather: Looking like a hot weekend? Pack your freezer with ice and purchase several travel fans. Rain forecast? Give your awning a clean, pack your waterproofs and consider purchasing a tarpaulin that you can create a nifty structure with. But it’s also worth remembering that Glastonbury asks for no gazebos.
  • Open-air lounge: Get creative and comfortable by creating an outdoor lounge area complete with camping chairs, blow-up sofas, a coffee table and even a rug to really bring everything together.
