There’s a common assumption that even though campervans make the best of the available interior space, they’re still not quite able to provide everything you need for a completely comfortable life on the road. That assumption is often, in fact, mistaken.
Though there are some campervans which don’t have the complete suite of desirable facilities due to space restrictions, there are some which take the idea of being too small and blow it apart. Many of the bigger campervans – for instance, the Auto-Sleeper Fairford – have a washroom including shower and toilet.
In this edition of our blog we’ll take a look at a couple of high quality campervans that contain washrooms, but also explain why a washroom can be such an important part of swinging the decision one way or the other when it comes to buying your campervan, whether you’re opting for something brand new or a pre-owned campervan.
Why do I need a washroom in my campervan?
Each and every day throughout our entire lives we take for granted the knowledge our parents programmed into us, that cleanliness is important to health (as well as presentation). We wash in the morning just after we’ve got up, and we wash in the evening just before bed. Sometimes we even wash in between. Doing so cleans us, but it also has great power to reinvigorate, to completely refresh. So why would that be different just because we’re spending time out on the road in a campervan? The answer is it wouldn’t. Washing is important whatever your circumstance, and having a washroom in your motorhome gives you the maximum convenience to meet this regular need.
Imagine the difference between this facility and a vehicle which does not have a washroom. You’d end up allowing this need to become a major factor in the logistics of your holiday, thinking only in ‘wee stops’ and ‘wash stops’. Imagine having to ‘hold on’ every day until you’ve reached civilisation and can use its loos, or only staying at campsites where there is a wash-house and some toilets. With a campervan which has a washroom and toilet built in to its layout, you can more or less do as you please…
Our pick of campervans with washrooms
Auto-Sleeper Fairford:
The Fairford is a motorhome by Auto-Sleeper which looks great from the outside, and caters to all your needs on the inside. The washroom features a sliding sink – a simple but clever design idea which allows you push the washbasin out of your way when you’re looking to maximise your space for a shower. There’s also a fixed rail, which means hanging up your wet clothing or your towel is easy. A hand-held shower also doubles as the wash-tap for the sink. It’s all very neat, and well-engineered in a small space.
Auto-Trail Tribute:
The Tribute is one of Auto-Trail’s smartest campervans, with great interior features to keep everyone happy, comfortable and tidy. Intelligent design ensures that the whole washroom comes into play at shower-time, with space enabled by the sink being a flip-down basin. The toilet is also a swivel bowl, so there’s more than enough leg room. There’s a towel holder and there are hooks on the door-back, with storage options for all your bottles and bits and pieces in the vanity unit or lower-level shelving. The shower itself is trigger-operated too – so you will save precious water.
Other exceptional campervan models which features facilities for washing and going to the loo include one of the best Adria campervans available – the Adria Twin Sports GGX (a toilet and shower) – and the Swift Monza (this one features an external shower point, so you’d have to be parked somewhere fairly private for this, and also a portable toilet). At Spinney we have loads of campervans for sale so you can check out all of the vehicles mentioned in this edition of our blog, plus plenty of others.
