About Spinney | History
Spinney Motorcaravans was established in 1975 by today's Managing Director, Nick Holland Senior, originally situated on the A537 Knutsford to Macclesfield Road at Ollerton, until moving to our present location at Holmes Chapel on the A50 in 1996.

Motorhomes were a rarity in 1975...but we quickly grew
The first motor we sold was a Commer Automatic Jennings Roadranger. It had been owned by the people who travel to race meetings. I purchased one that boldly announced "the end of the world is nigh". Most panels were sign written with such slogans. Other examples proclaimed "seek the lord and seek salvation". At the time it seemed a little crazy. But, it made me think that motorhomes were perhaps just the thing of the future. They seemed like a great idea!
We went from one or two, then two to four, and so on. New Autohomes arrived in 1986, followed by Autosleepers in 1989. After buying the site from Total Oil in 1990, we were able to re-develop. In 1992, Anthony Trevallian, then C.E.O of Autosleepers opened our new showroom. Spinney grew steadily and the following years adding Swift, Elddis and Holdsworth to our list of franchises.
Our move to bigger premises in Cranage, near Holmes Chapel
Before long, we had outgrown our premises and were lucky to find our new site in Cranage, near Holmes Chapel. Originally a coach park, it was an ideal size and location to take Spinney further: to reach our goal of being the premier motorhome dealership in the North West.
We again started a programme of re-development, building new workshops, showroom, accessory shop, café and caravan sales area.
We already had a small caravan outlet in Cranage, which was amalgamated with the motorhomes. With 4.5 acres of tarmac display area, Spinney became one of the UK's best.
Spinney have built a reputation based on family values and excellent service
During this time, the staff played a vital part in building our reputation as a family company that offer a good service at competitive prices. Joining Spinney in 1978, Andrew Cooper, our Sales Manager, has been an integral part of the team. Richard Smith, Seniors Sales Executive, joined in 1995. It has been said that what these two don't know about motorhomes is really not worth knowing!
The family element of the company has grown steadily, with Nick Palmer as Pre-delivery Manager (my nephew). My sons, Nick Jnr in Service/Aftersales and Ben in Sales. It's good to see the next generation of Spinney join the business, and continue to expand our passion for the leisure industry.
